Raindrops on roses for Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013

1950s silhouettes, monochrome cut-work laces, high-waisted everything and did someone mention embroidery?

We would happily flounce around every garden party this summer in each of these; laughing gracefully behind our hands and playing an exagerated game of hide and seek in the shrubbery.

I tell you, we struggled to pick only a few favourites - we aren't kidding when we say EVERYTHING is really fantastic.

Trip the print fantastic with Marc Jacobs Resort 2013

Here at Ginny & Jude, we love prints and we love colour. And colourful prints - well, now they are just the bees knees!

So, you can imagine then that the Resort 2013 collection from Marc Jacobs really tooted several loud horns for us...

We love the soft Edwardian style hair, the unashamed used of crazy colour and the practical drapery. And we would like one of those cardigans in every colour. Please.

pinning and winning

Don't you love it when this kind of serendipitous thing happens in the land of fashion?

We recently pinned this lovely peplum skirt to our Fashion pinterest board:

We love a good peplum, and this delightful mix of colours and print had us pining for weather which allows for uncovered arms.

You know, walking down the street with the sun in your hair and a carefree skip in your feet...

*sigh*

Then whilst having a little wander through ASOS this morning we saw this:

Oh my! It's the same dress!!

And it gets better...it's ON SALE for a mere £20.00 - or about $34AUD. Which is a rather pleasant saving of 60% off the original price I might add!


Well, it feels like fate...

Runway Report Omnibus - Resort 2012

Oh yes, Resort collections are probably my favourite examples of fancy wearable fashion.
Some of my absolute favourites from this years Resort collections...

Christopher Kane

 Probably a wee bit too much technicolour for me overall, but this little number is super snazzy in silver and lime.
 

Salvatore Ferragamo

Lots of lovely lush fabrics and draping here. I'm particularly fond of this blue and white pattern and the silhouette is fabulously classic.

Marc Jacobs

Some eclectic stuff, and a bit too pattern-y for me overall, but the gentle juxtaposition of casual and cocktail is quite lovely.

Louis Vuitton

Gorgeous cut-work on the fabrics and the woven patterns are quite spectaculor.

Lanvin

A bit of a mess of tribal textures at times (ha! not evident below however), but overall floaty and wonderful. The button up the side detail on the one-piece is a thoughtful touch.

Burberry Prorsum

Yes, there are a few too many 'beads' hanging off things for my tastes, but Oh my. The textures, patterned fabric and cuts of these are pretty damn fabulous. Not to mention the woven accessories! The block colour combinations are really smart and the tailored leather trench coats in brights rather than the traditional nudes are divine.

Valentino

Yep, I loved all of this utterly adorable floaty stuff from Valentino! What fabulous fabrics and details. The 1930s inspired capped sleeved lace dresses are just divine. And I am ignoring the fur and focusing on the fabulous cut of that denim jumpsuit.
Note the hilarious gait from the models!

 Yves Saint Laurent

And I've saved the very best until last! Bright primary colours, wonderfully feminine cuts...honestly, what's not to absolutely l.o.v.e about all of this?! Adoring the playsuits and the puffed sleeve details. 

I'll have one of each, thank you.

Clearly I am putting my money on Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry Prorsum and Valentino.  You should all have a closer look through those collections - lots of amazingness to soak in.

Trends? Woven everything, Primary colours / BLUE, applique, denim denim denim, late 1930s era silhouettes
