Finders Keepers Markets this Friday!

Time really has whooshed right past us here at G&J HQ - can 6 whole months really have passed so quickly?! Apparently so, yes - because it's Finders Keepers time again!

WHAT:

WHERE:
Australian Technology Park
Exhibition Hall, Locomotive Street
Eveleigh
(Entry via Henderson Road)
For those of you who have visited in previous years - this is across the tracks from Carriageworks!

WHEN:
Friday 6th December from 6pm - 10pm
Saturday 7th December from 10am - 5pm

COST:
$2

We are really pleased to be part of this amazing event once again - please stop by and say hello if you are visiting! We have a rather plum spot against the far right wall under the windows. AND we are next to the changerooms so we will be able to see all of you trying on our finery - something we rarely get the chance to witness with an online business!

As always there are countless incredibly talented designers and artisans taking part and these selections are just a handful of the stalls we hope to check out...

And not to mention all the amazing produce, pickles and assorted foodery from the Farmers Lane stalls and amazing music lineup!

If we were visiting, we would turn up first thing Saturday morning to be serenaded by the selections from Jack Shit and take a gander before the crowds descend.

See you all there!

Finders Keepers Winter Markets!

6 months seems to whip around awful fast doesn't it - feels like only a few weeks ago we were peddling our wares at the Summer Finders Keepers...

But as much as times seems a lost concept at G&J HQ, it is indeed time again for the Finders Keepers Markets, Winter edition.

And there are a few changes afoot...
A change of venue is probably the biggest one for everyone to be aware of. After five years, the Sydney Finders Keepers markets have outgrown the halls of Carriageworks and the markets have moved across the tracks; to Australian Technology Park! As such, the markets have trebled in size (yes, that's THREE times as much amazing-ness)...AND there are food trucks and a 'market lane' of food stalls to boot. Hurrah!

There are so, so, SO many designers to be aware of at these markets, and after a careful fossiking through the designer profiles, we are keen to check out these little beauties...

...for beautiful organic jewellery.

...for stunning, handmade leather-goods.

3. Marcue
...the go-to stall for shoes, glorious shoes!

...for the lasses with a good set of pins; these shifts are pretty darn cute!

...for original vintage and antique book plates.
(they are also our neighbours...we anticipate many purchases)

...ceramic heaven!

...there is no limit to the amount of pretty tea-towels one can own.

8. ALAS
...sleepwear that's pretty and functional.

...yes, they do a brilliant range of knits etc. but these McFadyen picnic blankets made us audibly coo. And reminded us of one of our favourite regency drama actors...

...for the most beautiful silk scarves

AND lastly,
...for beautifully tailored clothes and elegant accessories with a pinch of vintage flair.

See you there!
Friday: 6pm -10pm
Saturday: 10am - 5pm

l a s t y e a r ' s k i s s e s - AW 2011 collection revealed!

With the wind just beginning to whip itself into a delicious chill, Ginny & Jude Designs present...
l a s t  y e a r ' s  k i s s e s
 our Winter collection for 2011.

Inspired by thoughts of surreptitious meetings in abandoned hallways, secret notes left for you in library books and a spiced brandy at dusk, this is a collection made to evoke the warmth of fire-lit evenings.

This year's crop of kisses don't seem as sweet to me
This year's crop just misses what kisses used to be
This year's new romance doesn't seem to have a chance,
even helped by mister moon above.
This year's crop of kisses is not for me, for I'm still wearing last year's love

Come into my studio with Creative Spaces for The Finders Keepers

I was recently asked to be part of a project The Finders Keepers are working on where they have a gander around the homes and Creative Spaces of Australian independent designers...of course I said 'yes!' - I am as guilty as anyone of being rather partial to peeking into other peoples lives!

On a recent Sunday afternoon the delight that is Renee Baker popped over to take some photographs of my large loungeroom in which all and everything I have ever made has sprung from. In fact, I have been using this beautiful space for so long, I can hardly imagine what it would be like to divorce my 'home' life from my 'studio' life! I'm sure it would make it very much harder to spend hours knitting together these Knitted Knickers and the like without the constant interest/distraction of myriad costume dramas and cups of tea...

Once the business part of the visit was over, we had a good natter over a cup of coffee and some freshly baked Coffee Crumble Cake (could not be recommended highly enough - a never-fail cake if I ever baked one!).

It was an absolute peach of an afternoon!
And I hope you enjoy this little tour through my home as much as I did.

Melbourne Market Specials

As with every market we do, we like to make some super special little runs of things specially for the market itself. Below are some of the goodies we have been pulling together for the Melbourne Finders Keepers markets next week...

Gorgeous handmade Bowtie Headbands - made using recycled ties from the 1950s and buttons covered in antique kimono fabric...from $50

Art Deco drop earrings - using semi-precious stones and pearls, including these cute little carved coral flowers...$25

Botanical Globe lockets - these super cute vintage ball lockets have been fancied with some lovely brass findings. Another previous sell-out piece, we found a few more of them during a recent cleanup!

Jewellery Rolls - these beauties were a complete sell-out at the last Sydney Finders Keepers. Made entirely from antique kimono fabric and lining, with leather tie and vintage button detail, they are sumptuously practical.

Staring at the Stars pendants - using super delicate 1950s cabochons depicting different star-signs...too beautiful for words.

If there are any you want to reserve, email letters@ginnyandjude.com!
